Wordless Wednesday: Buddy Reveals Patriotic New Budsden Flag

The Budsden Flag asserts Buddy’s right to tread wherever he wants.

Buddy the Cat revealed the new Budsden Flag on Wednesday, his version of the famous Gadsden Flag.

The message is simple and applies to all felines:

Here’s an alternate version for occasions when the treading is already in progress:

  1. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.

Looks like nothing can happen to Buddy !

    1. Buddy is absolutely fearless…except when it comes to vacuums, loudly rustling paper bags, electronic toys, the 24-second clock horn in NBA games, certain kinds of classical music, loud footsteps by the neighbors upstairs, and only like 217 other things.

He was legitimately fearless as a kitten.

      1. No and I’m glad now because it’s taken at least 10 play sessions for him to finally go after his remote-controlled mouse toy instead of just watching it with wary interest and running from it.

He finally batted a paw at it a few times! He even chased it into a corner.

        The Mighty Hunter emerges!

I guess they wouldn’t be cats if they weren’t paranoid. I’ll have to find it again, but there was a video of a jaguar brother and sister playing with boxes in a sanctuary. The brother was all into it, with his front half inside the box when his sister came up behind him and he jumped and ran like a terrified house cat.

Big or small, cats are cats.

  2. Have to confess the Gadsden Flag is a new one on me. My studies of the American Revolution while at university were strangely silent on this subject, but Principal Google has kindly filled in the gaps. In creatively reinventing this historic symbol of defiance against oppression, Buddy’s message is clear and simple – “don’t mess with me, dude.” We have all been warned!

    1. It’s a weird thing because it’s been stripped of its historical context in recent times, especially the last 10 years or so, and co-opted for political purposes.

But flipping it seems like the perfect reminder of feline supremacy. I mean, Buddy doesn’t see anything wrong with sitting on my face and screeching into my ear to wake me when he’s hungry. He truly does tread where he wants.
