Today we’re admiring photos of the majestic Amur (Siberian) tiger, a species that has been pulled back from the brink of extinction thanks to the hard work of conservationists.

They’re incredible animals and I’m glad there’s a huge effort to preserve them.

Some of their expressions look just like house cats. I’m thinking specifically of the bottom right. Sarge gets that expression a lot.

Isn’t it scary when you notice that and remember there isn’t much difference between a tiger or lion and your cute little pals? I’d hate to see a 500 pound Buddy.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park, which we visit from time to time, has Amur Tigers as part of sn international breeding programme. Wonderful animals!

They’re incredible and I’m glad Russia is taking their conservation seriously. I hope they keep a close eye on them because the Chinese traditional “medicine” market has a bottomless appetite for big cat bones and other parts.
