This year, Santa brought something really awesome for Little Buddy!
No, not a Roomba. A TinyTent! A beautiful, dark blue tiny tent with equally tiny mesh windows and and a tiny rain fly.
I put it together and called Bud over.
“Look, Bud!”
He meowed, tail up, clearly interested. But he didn’t go inside, so I got a few of his favorite treats and tossed them in there.
Bud padded over, stuck his head and front paws in the tent…and I realized he may be too fat for his TinyTent.
I need to get him in there. After all, the entire point was to put it on my desk and establish a clear Buddy Spot, a place where he can be right next to me and lounge comfortably without sitting in front of my monitor or on the keyboard.
He will fit. Cats are liquid, after all, and love a good snug spot. I just have to wait until the tent floor settles a bit and maybe add an old t-shirt.
Then Bud will have his Buddy Spot, so he can be cozy and remain within one foot of me while allowing me to write. (Yeah right.)
And if not…it’s diet time, fat boy! For both of us.
Special thanks to my nieces, who gifted Buddy his TinyTent. They remain the only two humans in the world Bud is terrified of, and I feel bad they can’t play with him much, but they love him.
In other Christmas gift news, my mom gave me this mug “from Bud,” and, well, it’s almost embarrassingly, uncannily accurate, and the image is not custom-made:
I mean, that’s a gray tabby, but it’s also his precise coloring, and the black t-shirt, red-brown hair and man bun are all me. (We’ll pause so you can laugh at me for the bun. It never would have happened if COVID didn’t shut down barbershops for an entire year and I didn’t watch Vikings during the pandemic, thinking “That Ragnar Lothbrok has cool hair! I wanna be a viking!”)
As for the rest of Christmas, I am spending it with family and I hope you are too, friends. I know some people feel they need to drink just to tolerate relatives, but I have always been grateful that my family is boringly normal. No fights, no arguments, and we’ve all agreed not to talk politics.
I hope your gatherings are similarly uneventful and you get to enjoy the holidays and your families.

I’m in Minnesota. It’s been in the 30’s for most of winter so far. We’ve had one good sized snowfall last week. I thought it would melt before we hit Christmas because the temps were so high. Nope. It stuck around. My brother lives out in Wyoming. Asked if he’s got snow, because he generally gets more than we do here. He said they have no snow and temps were in the 40’s. It’s crazy!

BUDDY IS NOT FAT! 🤣🤣🤣Great post.I know that if there is any politics at table they will be thrown out. They get one warning only i was told. That goes for religion. My sister is smart enough to keep her mouth shut in my home.

It’s just a good policy in general because nothing good can come from talking about it, and no one wants to ruin Christmas.
I just got home. Had a nice day of hanging out with my family and watching the NBA Christmas games. I’m happy the Knicks won. Merry Christmas, Gilda!

Yes. Exactly. But i am not the one who talks politics and religion. And no one is going to talk religion to my friend who is an atheist. She is a good person who loves her cats and dog. Did cat rescue in her younger years and will help you out in a pinch. And you will not disrespect my friend who is gay.

Tuxie got his tent from his human brother and loves it! He is certain that he is camping and that birdie hanging from the top will eventually be his! The family comes up with better presents than the human “parents “! Your nieces have the right idea!

Buddy’s probably not going in the tiny tent because he’s protesting. You (I mean, Santie Paws) didn’t get him his Roomba. That’s as bad as if Ralphie didn’t get his Red Rider BB gun, for crying’ in a beer! I’m kind of amazed he didn’t throw it back at you (like some snotty kid might do) and film himself being said snotty kid. Then he’d upload it on Youtube and cry victim! You’re gonna have to pony up some serious turkey to get him inside that thing. 😂
I bought a combo tent/bed for my blind/deaf boy Meow Meow. Can be used like a tent or push the tent part down and it’s a nice bed. He wouldn’t go near it. The other 2 don’t like it either. They weren’t even here when I bought it! I wonder if it smells funky or something. Guess I have to be careful what I buy for cat beds from now on. I am going to buy one of those beds shaped like a frog though. It’s so cute, I have to get it And they WILL like it!

Ah, the classic Red Rider BB gun. The thing that comes to mind for me when I think of that movie is the kid getting his tongue stuck on the pole in the freezing temperature. That and “Fragile…must be Italian!”

Is it possible to buy a larger tent? Not huge, just a couple inches bigger to comfortably accommodate Little Buddy. To be fair to LB, that tent does look uncommonly tiny. Anyway, I hope my two favorite buddies had a wonderful Christmas 🎄🎄🎁🎁💟💟
My little furry guy and I had a quiet, peaceful Christmas. Very pleasant.

Unfortunately I don’t think so, but the angle of the photo makes the tent look smaller than it is. I’m gonna put an old t-shirt in there tonight and see how it goes.
I hope you had a great Christmas as well, but I don’t know who you are! For some reason the names of some posters are showing up with random handles, so for yours all I see is virtual658 and so on. If you don’t want your usual handle on here, that’s cool, but just going by your comment, I’m pretty sure you’re a regular reader. 🙂

Gotta love the “Buddy… A Place of His Own!” Sadly I don’t think they make one for our giant! It’s ok cause he has let Dad and Mom sit in his chairs and we both share his bed. He is a kind Overlord!

There are other versions of those tents on Amazon made by a different company. Might be worth checking out to see if they make them for bigger cats and dogs.
