This photo of a chatty lion was taken at Lo Zoo di Napoli (Naples Zoo) in Italy by BoBB, aka Brother of Big Buddy:

For a brief moment, since it is April 1, I considered writing a post about how the Somalian pirates who briefly “bought” Buddy a few years ago returned with an offer I couldn’t refuse, so I sent the little dude packing for the pirate life once again.
But then I remembered the emails I got, including one from a woman who said she was heartbroken by my betrayal of the Budster.
So no April Fools’ Day, because as fun as it is to imagine Bud joining a pirate crew, I can’t have some people thinking I’d abandon him. He’s here to stay!

That looks like a nice zoo.

The lion does look a little disgruntled. Maybe someone forgot his mid-afternoon snack

My bro also sent photos of the tigers at Naples Zoo, who apparently had a bottle of wine, Marvin Gaye on the record player and a feast of pheromones to set them up. Figured the lion was safer for a generally PG blog.

I lived with a one-eye Siamese (Lestat) who would’ve looked at home with an eye patch.

I wonder if any cats would actually tolerate an eye patch. It would make a fine accessory!

Are you sure Buddy doesn’t already have a boat commissioned and applications on Indeed for said Pirates? You can’t watch him all the time…

Good question.
“The Strait of Hormuz, you say? That’s where most of the world’s turkey flows through?”
“Yeah, little dude. Just make sure your ship has the International Flag of Turkey Shippers: green, white and red vertical stripes with a little lion with a sword drawn on the white stripe in the middle. That way they’ll let you right through.”
“Awesome! I’m gonna have so much turkey!”
“Quite right! It’ll be a turkey shoot!”

Not everyone appreciated humor or a good joke.
We know that you would NEVER abandon the Budster.

Exactly! Nothing will ever separate the Buddies, although it is fun to imagine him enthusiastically embracing the pirate life, singing sea shanties and gleefully participating in raids on other ships.

Your little Buddy will be relieved to know he has a servant for life! Now stop this nonsense immediately, and prepare him a tasty meal.

Has he been paying you visits? You do an astonishing imitation of him!
