From the African savannas to the Andean mountains, the jungles of the Amazon to the Hollywood hills, and everywhere in suburban America, cats of all types and sizes prowl the night. With eyes that are up to eight times more sensitive in the dark, incredibly sensitive hearing, and whiskers that can pick up the slightest change in air density, felids were built by mother nature to stalk by starlight.
Some cat species are crepuscular, some are nocturnal, but as ambush predators, they’re all at their best when hunting under the cover of darkness.

Big cats are so amazing. Your article really brought their night behavior to the light. 🙂

You need to replace Buddys pic with my semi- fetal cat Bootsy. Heard noise in my garden last night. In the dark with some light coming down i see him with a rat in his mouth. He dipped the rat in his water bowl,🤮,i told him to stop that and he ran off further down with rat in tow!! Was he trying to drown his prey?I will never know. 🤣🤣

Send some photos of Bootsie, I’ll be happy to post them. Does he usually kill rats?

Just kidding about posting Bootsy. And i would not know how to do it. Pc moron. Yes. He kills rats and mice in my garden and neighbors garden. Neighbors are grateful. Killed a lot last year but i think they will be fewer kills because i think garbage rules might be working. But i did see a huge rat in daytime few days ago on my block.Good news is i saw no pieces of rat this am but i am sure it is some where. Those are my gifts.🤣

I love seeing Buddy, in the darkness, on the prowl, hunting prey or treats?? It doesn’t matter really. He knows he’s the baddest beast in the cat kingdom 🐾

It’s no wonder cats think we’re terrible hunters.

Or just blind in general. Every time I almost trip over him at night, my cat looks at me like I’m an imbecile.
