Happy 11th Birthday, Bud!

Eleven?! That can’t be possible! He doesn’t look a day over three…

Happy birthday to my best little pal!

Since I don’t know exactly when he was born, we celebrate his birthday as his adoptaversary, the weekend following my own birthday, which was the Saturday I brought him home in 2014.

As regular PITB readers know, Buddy — then nameless — came striding out of his carrier and starting conquering everything in sight, claiming the entire apartment as his own and declaring that my bed was now his bed, although he would permit me to continue using it. He was a bold kitten, and I did my best to nurture that boldness and friendliness.

Apologies for the lack of posts this past week, as I headed down to Washington to hang out with my brother, his wife and my nieces, and to attend the Sakura Festival. My bro and I also attended an event at the Kennedy Center featuring the physicist Brian Greene, who gave a presentation called Starry Night: A Voyage Across Space and Time. I’m looking forward to posting about it soon.

In the meantime, we’re going to have a Buddy weekend here. The little guy will get all his favorite treats, catnip in abundance, lots of play time and a new toy.

Oh, and some rascal changed my favorite Buddy photos into photos of Buddy as a tiger…hmmm. Who would do something like that?

    1. The Budster and I appreciate the birthday wishes from you and Mr. Oreo. 11 is a good age! I don’t see a difference in energy level or enthusiasm compared to, say, when he was 7 or 8. He’s the same vocal little dude with strong opinions. I hope Oreo is going strong too.

      1. You’re right, no major shifts in everyday energy levels or vocal abilities. Oreo is still a bottomless pit & has way to much to say about it. Like Buddy, he’s no killer of anything. Yesterday I had a fight with a giant spider & I think he might have been laughing?!? I’m traumatized 😫. Go enjoy the best birthday you can with Buddy & I’m hoping for way more than 11 years more for them both. Toe beans crossed. Again enjoy Bud’s birthday with him 💕

  6. Happy 11th Birthday, Buddy, from your New Jersey friends Elizabeth and Pandora!!! I hope Buddy enjoys his fun-filled day of celebration! At 11, Pandora was acting no different than when she was 7 or 8, too. And even though she’s 17 now, she’s still running around reeking havoc everywhere! Enjoy the catnip, treats, and new toy, Buddy! Pandora says she doesn’t see a difference between the Buddy pictures and the tiger pictures. Buddy already looks like a tiger to her!!! 🐯🐯🐯

    1. That gives me hope that we have many more years together, and I’m glad to hear that Pandora is not only going strong at 17, but that she’s still energetic.

  9. What beautiful pictures of Buddy! Even if he does look somewhat like a housecat in some of them, even though we know he’s a tiger! What gorgeous green eyes! Happy Birthday, “Little” Buddy!
