Happy Thanksgiving From The Buddies At PITB!

Turkey has been part of the tradition since the very first Thanksgiving in 1621.

Happy Thanksgiving 2022!

With war, inflation and even resurgent Coronavirus strains in our stressful world, we’re grateful for this holiday because it reminds us of what really matters — juicy, delicious, slow-roasted turkey.

Our national day of gratitude traces its origins back to 1621, when the cats of the Plymouth colony and the cats of the Wampanoag tribe gathered together for a harvest feast. The Plymouth cats, just a few months removed from their lives in Europe, were intrigued when the Wampanoag cats brought a strange and fascinating new kind of yums to the feast.

They called it turkey.

From that first bite, the kitty settlers knew they’d found the stuff of life, the essence of deliciousness, the thing they’d been missing all those dreary years in Europe. Here was a land of new opportunity, new napping spots and things to scratch, but never in their wildest dreams did they imagine tasting such a delicious bird.

Just when they thought they’d had their fill of wonders for the day, the Plymouth kitties were delighted when the Wampanoag cats told them that aside from being incredibly yummy, turkey also has a magical quality: It induces long, restful naps within an hour of eating it.

The feast was so much fun and the turkey was so delicious, the Plymouth and Wampanoag cats promised they’d do it again the next year, and the next, and the year after that…

And that, my friends, is history.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Your friend,
Buddy the Cat

  1. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your Buddy!
I hope you are roasting a turkey at home so that little Buddy gets to enjoy the smells of the yummy for most of the day! And the snacking afterwards as well.

    1. Unfortunately I have to leave him at home due to canine presence at my aunt’s house, where we have our large family gathering, but I’m sure he’s counting down the time until I bring him fresh turkey. Happy Thanksgiving, Susan, I hope you and your family are enjoying the holiday.

      1. Thank you. I do not eat meat so some turkey my sister made went to my sweet boy TT. A feral cat in my garden and my sisters dog. They must be thrilled i am a vegetarian. 🤣🤣🤣

      2. I feel your pain. When we’re out of treats and Bud meows at me, clearly looking for a snack, I’m like “Uh…want some cheese?”

But I became a vegetarian in large part because of Bud, because he’s so smart, has such a big personality and intense feelings that he shares happily, that it was impossible for me to justify eating animals. I never much liked meat in the first place, except maybe for bacon and a few other things.

      1. Happy belated Thanksgiving to you and Little Buddy. I’m sure Big Buddy is a genius too. Otherwise, Little Buddy wouldn’t like you so much. 😎😺

    1. That’s awesome, John, thank you! I hope you’re having a laid back day even though Thanksgiving isn’t a thing in the UK. (It should be, because turkey.) Buddy says “Mrrrrrp!” Cheers to you and Bella the Mi-5 cat.

      1. He did, but I think he’s glad it’s over. Between me being out of the house a lot, and him having to hide when my nieces were here, he’s glad things are back to normal and he can lay on his Big Buddy again in peace. Order has been restored to the Buddyverse.

    1. Thank you, Dayvee. I know there are a lot of readers who don’t comment regularly, so I’m always glad to hear from you guys as well as the regulars. It reminds me that Buddy’s silly adventures are appreciated. I hope you had a great turkey day as well. Cheers

      1. Most important is that Tuxie is feeling better and now has resumed his high jumping onto the counter and onto his cat tree! Love that little dude so much! Hope you both are having a great holiday!

  2. I know I’m way late to the party, but I hope the Buddies and everyone else here had an awesome Thanksgiving. Hope there was LOADS of Turkey, pies, smashed taters, veggies and all the other good stuff for everyone to eat! (We had burgers, fries and a salad here. We’re celebrating on the weekend!). 💖🦃🍁🎉

    1. Thanks, Carmen. I brought my own vegetarian “chicken.” (Quorn “chicken” cutlets, which are really good.) I had that with the classic Thanksgiving toppings and sides: Mashed potatoes, stuffed mushrooms, broccoli and cheese casserole, etc. I hope you have a nice weekend Thanksgiving with your family.

      1. Hi fellow Quorn fan! Your vegetarian menu sounds amazing, I’m going to try it next year. Of course I’ll have to add a green bean casserole – it’s not TG without it. 🙂

    1. Thanksgiving is cat Christmas, or at least Christmas for cats like BellaDharma and Buddy who love their turkey. I made sure to bring back some for Bud. My family thinks it’s hilarious that I always bring some back for him, knowing that I don’t eat turkey myself.

I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving!
