All About House Panthers: Black Cat Appreciation

House panthers are pretty cool!

Hi! Buddy here, filling in again for my lazy human.

If he weren’t such a lazy, useless human, he would have known Aug. 17 was Black Cat Appreciation Day. Another reason for me to do more cannonball dives onto his stomach while he sleeps LOL!

But don’t worry, Leah at Catwoods has a great post about Black Cat Appreciation Day, prominently featuring her house panthers, Boss and Cranky Frankie.

Black cats aren’t always easy to photograph, but the right light reveals the silky contours of their coats.

Now when is gray tabby appreciation day? For that matter, shouldn’t there be a Buddy Appreciation Day? It could be celebrated with turkey, beer, and, uh, turkey. And catnip. And turkey. Now I’m hungry.

“SERVANT, I AM HUNGRY! FETCH ME SOME SNACKS!”

    1. I’m well aware I have a juvenile sense of humor, but adding to Buddesian lore by creating new accomplishments and honors for him is endlessly amusing.

According to this blog, Buddy has landed on the moon, slain dragons, commanded a Federation starship, starred in a David Attenborough nature documentary, played point guard for the New York Knicks, fought evil robots, earned himself a place in the Amazon as an honorary jaguar, was elected (and subsequently impeached) as president of the Americats, toured Europe and Asia as a rock star, and hosted a prestigious cheese tasting competition. His accomplishments are never ending.

    1. Before I adopted Bud I knew I wanted a tabby because I liked the tigeresque stripes, but I would love to adopt a house panther too. They look like tiny jaguars and if you use the right lighting and/or camera settings to truly capture their features, they look badass.

Bella is a true badass. Buddy just plays one on TV.

  1. Our house panther Onyx was trying to get outside for a couple of weeks. Apparently she’s bored with that. Now she’s sleeping on top of the freezer. We’re very glad we don’t have to worry that she will be eaten before her human returns later this week.

    1. Yeah you definitely don’t want that. I’ll never forget going hiking one day in a state park with my brother and his wife, who brought their chihuahua along. There was some sort of bird of prey, either an eagle or a peregrine falcon I think, that was circling above, looking at the dog like he was a tasty snack. My sister in law picked Cosmo up and carried him the rest of the way after that…that would be a brutal way for anyone to lose a pet.
