When a kind passerby scooped up a lost cat and brought her to a nearby police station in Bangkok last week, police were happy to help reunite her with her family.
But the cat, whom they later learned is named Nub Tang (“Counting Money”) wasn’t particularly happy about being rescued, and she tried to chomp down on several officers who were trying to help her.
So a lieutenant who goes by the name Inspector Da online devised a novel way of making the best of the situation and reuniting Nub Tang with her family.
The Inspector “arrested” and “booked” Nub Tang on charges of assaulting an officer. He took a mugshot of the grumpy shorthair and took her paw prints, then posted them online.

The amusing images and story helped draw attention to the post, and the next day, after Inspector Da had taken Nub Tang home with him overnight to make sure she was comfortable and felt safe, Nub Tang’s humans saw the posts and contacted the precinct.
Inspector Da — real name Parinda Yukol Pakeesuk — happily handed the feisty feline back to her people, but not before posing for some photos with them and saying goodbye to his temporary pal.

Warrant issued for alleged cat killer who didn’t show for court
A California man accused of killing dozens of cats skipped out on his initial court appearance.
Police in Santa Ana arrested 45-year-old Alejandro Oliveros Acosta in April after media pressure prompted them to finally take reports of a cat killer seriously.
Neighbors had been lodging complaints and asking police to act for more than a year after pets and strays went missing. Acosta and his white pickup truck were captured on several doorbell cameras and home security cams, including one that caught a clear view of him allegedly luring and abducting a neighbor’s pet cat.
After their complaints failed to prompt action from police, people in the neighborhood turned to local media, sharing footage and information.
A local TV news report finally cranked up pressure on the cops, who arrested Acosta in late April. A search of Acosta’s home turned up the bodies of deceased neighborhood cats and evidence that Acosta had allegedly killed “dozens” of felines, a Santa Ana police spokeswoman said.
Acosta didn’t show up for a May 21 preliminary hearing. Now police are looking for him and the court has issued a warrant for his arrest.
The Santa Ana man previously posted $40,000 bail, money he will forfeit if he remains a scofflaw.

Inspector Da and Nub Tang are the smile I didn’t know I needed tonight. I love the mug shot! Now on to cat murderer, POS, and hope he’s dead guy. I’m really not surprised at all that he’s amongst the missing. He doesn’t care about s**t, so let’s forget about whomever was dumb enough to pay his bond money. That’s history as far as I’m concerned.
I’d love to believe that he died a similar fate as all the cats he killed so viciously, but my guess is he’s moved on to a bigger place, where he’s just another face in a sea of humans and he’ll kill cats again because that’s what he does. I truly hope you don’t hate me for hoping he’s self deleted himself in a painful, gory way and was alone, therefore, maybe having to hang endlessly or bleed to death slowly. He didn’t care, and maybe even got off on his torture of cat’s so screw him. I just hope he’s dead so he can’t hurt anymore innocent feline kiddos who hopefully are the one’s who run his version of hell when he gets there.
Now, I’m scrolling back up to look at that fabulous mug shot of Nub Tang to get the bad taste out of my mouth from “the guy we love to loathe.” Many hugs to you & Buddy. I swear there are so many times I’m grateful that our cats are indoor cats. There’s so many things to be scared of for our cats & other animals outdoors. It’s nice not to have to worry about one little thing in a world full of crazy. I’m at peace with Oreo sleeping on my leg while I write this too long note to you both. Good night & happy Friday 🐾🐾

I wondered about the bail as well. Even if he scraped together some cash, even if he had collateral for bond, I doubt he had $40k laying around, so he likely got help from his family, maybe the same relatives he left to deal with the angry mob that showed up after news of his arrest hit the local media.
As for the rest, obviously it really bothers me and I didn’t go into detail about what he allegedly did because it’s too disturbing, but I’m also a firm believer in due process, innocence until proven guilt, and our legal process, as imperfect as it is. It’s even more important now that we’ve got government “leaders” like our puppy-killing DHS secretary who literally does not know what habeas corpus is.

Oh my, the puppy killer, trying to kill the rule of law as well. She’s something & proud of it. You do have a point about about innocent until proven guilty. I just can’t work around the evidence here. For now I’ll leave it at, I’d hate to be his lawyer or whoever posted bond. We’re in such strange times! I often wonder how will we undo all the damage being done and how long can things can go on this way? Still, I get up in the morning and go back to my day & try to make a difference in my world even if it’s tiny, it’s something…
Again, happy Friday to you & Buddy 🐾🐾

It’s great to see the Thai police helping that very cute kitty. I’m guessing the Santa Ana cat killer has moved on, although $40,000 is a lot of money to forfeit.

I figure if he’s deranged enough to do what he allegedly did to cats, it’s probably not a stretch to imagine he may have stuck relatives and/or friends with an irrecoverable bond loan.
So far there’s still no word on his whereabouts.
