This Man Broke A Cat’s Spine By Slamming It To The Ground. Help Police ID And Catch Him

The police are looking for the public’s help in identifying and tracking down a man seen in a disturbing video.

Cops are looking for the public’s help identifying a man who abused a cat, injuring the feline so badly it had to be euthanized.

The man chased the cat into an apartment complex in Hamilton, Ohio, on Jan. 24 at 9 p.m. He caught the cat, forced it into a plastic bag and then slammed the bag down hard on the stairwell, according to footage from security cameras the complex. He dumped the cat, still alive and suffering, behind the apartment complex and fled.

The cat was found by deputy dog wardens, according to local media, but had a fractured pelvis and spine and had to be euthanized.

In addition to being shockingly cruel, the suspect isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. Cops say he doesn’t live in the complex, but returned there last week to look for surveillance cameras. In doing so, he gave the police a better look at his facial features and more images to release to the public.

Per the Hamilton Journal-News:

“In the new photos of the suspect, he is wearing the same coat and shoes, but has a recent hair cut, according to the BCSO.”

For those of you living in the Ohio area, details on how to contact the Butler County Sheriff’s Office are in the post below. Help them find this cruel man so he can be prosecuted and convicted.

  1. There is a definite plus for the death penalty, his re-offending rate and the hurt for another little innocent creature would be nil. May natures weapon of covid kill him.

    1. I kind of broke my own rule by posting this as it doesn’t have wider relevance but the police still haven’t ID’d the guy and he needs to be caught.

But yeah, harsher penalties. I just read about a man who kept buying and “adopting” kittens to torture and kill them. His girlfriend found out and turned him in. There have to be better safeguards for adoption, “free kitten” or low cost adoption events shouldn’t exist, and with an entire academic community built around criminology, you’d think someone would offer predictive models to recognize signs of potential animal abuse.

Most of all I can’t understand the inhumanity and cruelty of people who do this to innocent animals.

      1. One red flag of animal abuse is spousal abuse. I think i mentioned case years ago where rescue group found out wife was being abused after pos husband threw kitten against the wall. He claimed kitten fell off table. After seeing wife struggle to walk we all believed her when she said she had back issues. There was no reason not to believe her because i had back issues doing tons of tnr.Now rescue groups check police records if potential adopter was arrested for spousal abus.

      1. To put garbage like this in jail. Laws are in place and must be enforced. And it takes us to make laws stronger. Years ago in Brooklyn a pos did a record 7 years for setting stray cat on fire. Served all 7 years.

      2. There’s the 2019 PACT Act which I think could apply here, although that’s a question for lawyers and judges. The way it’s written, this guy could get a felony, although I think it still needs to be a higher class felony and carry a harsher sentencing range. Also some mechanism for making sure offenders are not allowed to have animals in the future.

  2. I have to warn people. Being on that site, Forcechange, is tough to be on. The shit people do to animals..Not even sure signing petitions helps. Last one i signed was a car that was filmed and pos threw kitten out on highway. Kitten was rescued. Filming that was great because law enforcement can see license plate.

    1. How would that work? I certainly understand it’s upsetting and I’m not insensitive. This stuff deeply bothers me too. But if you see the trigger warning you see the headline simultaneously, yeah?

I make sure to keep things generally PG here and elect not to write about 99.9% of abuse stories, but made an exception in this case because the police are actively asking the public for help IDing this guy. He needs to be caught and held accountable.

If you have any ideas, please let me know. Thanks.

      1. (… ‘I’ applaud your efforts to help catch this human monster, of course. It is a good and necessary endeavor.

… If you also care about your readers,… a trigger warning/tw, at the top will help protect them as well. It’s a simple as that. if you don’t understand it,… thank your good fortune.
… if you don’t wish to understand the reason for it in matters like this, or learn about it on your own, that’s up to you. You certainly have the right to write whatever, and however you wish. )

      2. (… A Google search on how to use a ‘trigger warning’/‘tw’  will tell you everything you need to know about how and when to use a ‘tw,’,… in about 30 seconds, btw, if you are interested. )

  3. It’s a sad fact that as disturbing as this is, we need to remain aware when it’s going on. That’s especially true in the immediate area of occurrence, so neighbors can keep their animals, both pets and ferals, safe. So I think bringing it to light is necessary.

    1. That is the way I feel as well.

Maybe I’ll expound on this in a post, but I’ve written before about simply having Google News alerts for cat keywords, so I don’t miss anything that may be of interest to the blog, and the sheer volume of stories about cat abuse, cruelty and killing that show up in those filters.

My policy is not to report that stuff if it’s just shock value. It has to have context, like informing readers of a wider trend, or informing readers about a danger threatening pet cats.

At the same time, ignoring this stuff doesn’t mean it’s not happening. My compromise has been the above criteria and to keep the site generally PG, sometimes PG-13-ish with the humor, and never post disturbing images.
